Support Sherwood Gardens
and the annual tulip Bloom
For over 100 years, Sherwood Gardens has been a beautiful oasis in the middle of Baltimore City. The annual tulip display for which the gardens are best known started in the 1920s. The gardens are privately supported and rely on the generosity of our visitors and neighbors to ensure that the gardens remain in bloom for years to come.
We have seen a record number of visitors to Stratford Green, the park in which the gardens bloom -neighbors who come to enjoy the beauty and catch up with friends, school children visiting to learn more about flowers and nature, and those who enjoy their daily walks.
Each year we plant up to sixty thousand new tulip bulbs imported from Holland. When the tulip display is over we fill the tulip beds with Summer Flowers. We care for and maintain the park – its trees and plantings – to ensure that the gardens are sustainable and remain a cherished place for us all to enjoy far into the future.
Sherwood Gardens receives no public funding of any kind. None of the yearly maintenance would be possible, without the generous contributions from private donors.
